With this blog, I hope to document my thoughts with regards to our plan to come back to the Philippines. The major driving force for this decision is to leave the rat race behind and enjoy some free time and “space” to find out what is there besides being a corporate slave. During this time I also hope to explore business opportunities in the Philippines related to software development (together with my husband’s company here in NL) and probably setup an e-commerce site as well.
I have been posting to my personal blog casually since 2005 but lately I have discovered that blogging is not only about posting photos and things like what happened during my summer vacation. This started when I discovered blogs about food, restaurant reviews, technology and software development blogs and also about making money online. There is so much to discover out there and not mention the blog communities such as mybloglog has led me to meet people who actually share the same interests as I do. I found out that there are also individuals who have the same mindset and opinions on life, career, money and finances as we do.
I love starting websites, social networking accounts and playing with content management applications. I have worked as a Software Developer for more than a decade and had my share of its ups and downs.
I left the Philippines in 1996 after accepting a job offer in the United States and since then I have lived in 2 different countries and moved through several apartments. After several interesting years of singlehood, I met and fell in love with a Dutchman and next thing you know I am living and working in the Netherlands. My husband and I are now both in our 30’s, and are both heavily involved in the ICT Industry. His software development company which he started a year ago is now picking up. I, however, have been more of a corporate slave/regular employee for the majority of the years that I worked. I am still trying to get used to the idea of being self-employed and that is also the subject of this blog. I will talk a bit more of this “inner struggle”.
We have planned a trip to the Philippines in August of 2008. Initially, we planned to make this our “make or break” trip and planned to give up our apartment but later on we thought it would be more practical to decide after our first couple of months if we are really staying there longer. But then who knows how it will all develop.

Good afternoon
Came across your very interesting blog. Feel a connection as I too have decided to come back to the Philippines a few years ago. I lived in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) for 21 years and decided to move back in 2000. I am currently thinking of moving back to Amsterdam again. However, I have grown to love the Philippines and would much rather stay here if I could. This is probably not the proper venue to inquire, but I’m unable to find your email address on the site. I see that you have established a business in the Philippines. I would love to get in touch with you through email as I am trying to find out if you would have any opportunities with your company. An opportunity for a Dutch speaking employee, preferably.
I look forward to your reply at your earliest convenience.
Best regards
Francis
